Clean Transportation Program Evaluation - 2022 Dataset
Project type
Statistical Spatial Analysis of Clean Transportation Program 2022 Data
Date
September 2023
Location
California
The Clean Transportation Program (CTP) is a California-based grant program to encourage use of sustainable modes of transport. Approved projects range from eclectic vehicle charging stations to bike lanes. Its dataset also contains information for Disadvantaged Communities (DACs), a classification created by the U.S. Census Bureau to assist in tracking the economic health of an area. This allows for adding a component of environmental justice analysis to the program data.
To evaluate the effectiveness of CTP grant recipient programs, spatial analyses were conducted on internal relationships in the dataset as well as the spatial relationships with CalEnviroScreen, Census, and CalTrans data, providing several interesting insights:
•CTP projects are highly concentrated within urban areas.
•Sensitive Receptor areas do not host a significant percentage of projects.
•CTP projects are not correlated with highway location
Including additional datasets, or more complex statistical functions could provide additional information and assist in making the CTP a highly effective program.
